Your Estimate
Estimates only. Get CDL Texas is not a CDL school and is not a lender. Actual tuition, fees, financing terms, and approval are set by the schools and providers you choose. Always confirm current pricing and terms directly before enrolling or borrowing.
How the Estimate Works
This tool combines three things into a single range: typical tuition for your CDL type and training path, a small city adjustment where pricing tends to differ, and the extra fees you choose to include. Real quotes vary because every school bundles tuition, testing, materials, and ELDT theory differently — which is exactly why you should request an all-in written estimate from each school before comparing.
Tuition ranges reflect general Texas market data: private Class A programs often range from about $2,900 to $8,000+ depending on city, transmission, school, and what is included. Community college programs may run lower, and employer-sponsored programs may be $0 upfront in exchange for a driving commitment. State fees set by the Texas DPS (permit, skills test, license) are shown as estimates — verify current amounts at dps.texas.gov.
Ways to Pay
Most students pay for CDL training one of six ways. Here is how they compare at a glance.
| Payment option | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Self-pay (cash) | Avoiding debt; simplest enrollment | Requires upfront cash |
| School payment plan | Spreading tuition over 12–24 months | Fees or interest vary by school |
| Private training loan / financing partner | Fast approval without large upfront cash | APR and repayment terms vary — compare carefully |
| WIOA / workforce grant | Eligible job seekers and veterans | Eligibility check and application lead time |
| GI Bill / veterans benefits | Veterans at qualifying schools | School must be VA-approved (WEAM) |
| Employer-sponsored training | $0 upfront | 6–12 month driving commitment; prorated repayment if you leave early |
Get CDL Texas may earn a referral fee if you apply through certain financing or school partners. Loan terms, approval, APR, and repayment options are set by the lender, not Get CDL Texas. Compare options carefully before borrowing.
