- Round Rock has two CDL schools of its own. Austin CDL Services, on Rocking J Road, and Community Truck Driving School, on Chisholm Trail Road, both publish Class A and Class B prices. Few Austin-area towns can say that.
- Published Class A prices in town run $2,900 to $3,500. Austin CDL Services lists $2,900 automatic and $3,300 manual; Community Truck lists $3,500. Those figures buy different things, so read the cost section before comparing them.
- Class B is local too. Austin CDL Services lists $2,600–$2,800 and Community Truck $2,250 — useful if you want local, home-daily work rather than tractor-trailers.
- Pflugerville and North Austin are close. Changing Lanes CDL School is about five miles away in Pflugerville, and Austin Community College’s Northridge Campus is about ten miles south.

Where You Can Train From Round Rock
Two private schools train drivers inside the city limits. Austin CDL Services, on Rocking J Road in the 78665 ZIP code, sells behind-the-wheel coaching by the hour rather than a classroom course: its site lists 14 hours of one-on-one driving for Class A manual, 12 for Class A automatic and 10 for either Class B. It says it is open six days a week, supplies the truck for the DPS road test, and brings you back at no extra cost if you fail, “up to 3 chances just like DPS.” It also says “No 30-day classroom” without explaining how the federal entry-level theory requirement is covered — ask before you pay.
Community Truck Driving School, on Chisholm Trail Road in 78681, lists Class A and Class B training plus Hazmat endorsement training. It publishes no course length or schedule, and when we checked on 18 September 2026 its pricing page showed an “under construction” notice, so we read its prices from its programs page instead. Confirm the figure in writing.
Just outside town, Changing Lanes CDL School in Pflugerville publishes a 180-hour Class A certificate with weekday, weeknight and weekend start dates, and Austin Community College runs a four-week, 40-hours-a-week Class A course at its Northridge Campus in North Austin. Neither is more than a short drive down I-35 or across SH 45.

CDL Training Cost in Round Rock
Round Rock’s two schools price very differently, and the numbers are not like for like. Austin CDL Services charges $2,900 for Class A automatic and $3,300 for Class A manual, and $2,600 or $2,800 for Class B, for a set number of one-on-one driving hours, with payment due on sign-up. Community Truck Driving School lists $3,500 for Class A and $2,250 for Class B, shown as reduced from $4,200 and $3,000.
For comparison a few miles away, Changing Lanes in Pflugerville lists $4,300 for Class A, including permit and study materials, third-party testing and the Hazmat, Tanker, Doubles and Triples endorsements, and Austin Community College lists $4,950 plus “additional fees”. A higher price that includes endorsement training and a full course is not the same product as a lower price for a block of road hours, so ask each school for an itemised written quote showing what is and is not included.

How Long It Takes From Round Rock
Round Rock’s two formats sit at opposite ends. An hourly coaching school like Austin CDL Services can move quickly if you already have your permit and your theory training done, because you are buying 10 to 14 hours in the truck rather than a month of scheduled classes. A course like Austin Community College’s runs four weeks at 40 hours a week (its page also refers to a five-week program, so confirm), and Changing Lanes’ certificate is 180 hours. Community Truck does not publish a length.
Two rules apply whichever you choose. You must hold your commercial learner permit for at least 14 days before the skills test (Texas Transportation Code §522.014 says not before the 15th day after it is issued), and first-time Class A and Class B applicants must complete entry-level driver training with a provider on the federal registry first. Workforce Funding
Round Rock is in Williamson County, which is served by Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area. If your home address is in Travis County, Workforce Solutions Capital Area is the board. The board decides eligibility and which providers it will fund, so ask it before you sign with any school.
